Healthcare Marketing/Sales Dog Days Of Summer

This post is simply to reassure the sales and marketing teams and those effected by the sales and marketing team that the dog days of summer are almost over. If you are in the Homecare, Nursing Home, Private Duty as well as the Hospital industry you have probably felt the effects of July this year, or in years past. There are a few things you may realize effect your referralls and admissions.

1) Elective surgeries are down. This time of year those who are in need of a total hip or knee will put off the surgery ontil late summer or early fall. So if you depend on these types of referralls it is a struggle to be patient but patient you must be.

2) Eveyone is on vacation. You descision makers are on vacation. You visit and find that your key referrall sources are gone to some great remote location and wont be back until next week or next month. Great time to build relationships with other potential champions in the facilty. Dont call them on vacation!

3) Everone is a bit overworked. People are covering for each other and because of this operations/procedures might not be as efficient as they may normally be. This to shall pass, when everone is back from there well deserved time off.

Hang in during the dog days of summer. Dont be to hard on yourself. Be creative, look for new opportunities to increase admissions, and get ready for the upcoming months and take some time off for yourself to recharge. Hang in there, we are all in the same boat.
